About
Oxford’s Trees of Life
A community project created for Oxfordshire Artweeks, celebrating the trees that shape our landscape and our lives.
We believe that trees are more than just part of the landscape; they are landmarks in our lives, and quiet companions in our daily routines. They are an intrinsically important part of our environment, and regularly feature in the myths, folklore and spirituality.
This project invites everyone in Oxfordshire to share a photograph, drawing, or painting of their favourite tree, along with the story of why it matters to them. Submissions are displayed in our online gallery and interactive map, and as many as possible will be displayed as part of our ‘Oxford’s Trees of Life’ exhibition during Oxfordshire Artweeks.
Whether it’s the oak you pass on your morning walk, the willow by the river where you spent childhood summers, or the blossom tree that lights up your garden each spring; we want to hear your story and map the trees that are significant to the people of Oxford.
